AIMP is a multimedia player freeware of high quality which supports most known audio formats. First you must extract files and then install the freeware in either portable version (for removable devices) and custom version (recommended), in a single user or multi user mode. The entire pack contains main components, skins, visualizations, input plugins, additional components (e.g. audio library, internet radio browser, the very impressive Last.FM plugin), and languages. Choose between full, lite, minimal and custom installation. Several seconds later you initiate AIMP (which resembles Winamp at first glance). We found the overall text and graphics to be a bit tiny, considering the latest trends in software technology (with big icons, text, images etc). Eye vision is not the strongest point of the computer user after a certain age! There is an auto-shutdown feature available, an alarm clock, a quick search for songs, and also the possibility to add songs as bookmarks. You can also set up your own hot keys if you're not satisfied with the default ones. The quality of sound is pretty good, especially when AIMP supports OGG, MP3, WMA, WAV, and others. AIMP ran smoothly and we have not encountered any technical problems, while the CPU usage was to a minimum. In conclusion, we liked what we saw in AIMP, and we strongly recommend you try it. Clearly, the developers of AIMP put some muscle into it, as they wanted to optimize the best features of all multimedia players into a single pack – give the trial a shot, and see so for yourself.
